On 7 July, 2020, the Emergency Medical Service concluded an agreement with the Central Finance and Contracting Agency on the implementation of the project No. 2.2.1.1/20/I/001 “Development of the Unified Emergency Medical and Disaster Management Information System (Round 2)”, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Within the framework of the ERDF-funded project, information and communication technology (ICT) solutions will be developed by improving the provision of emergency medical care (EMS) to the population of Latvia in situations critical to life and health.

The project aims to achieve the following goals:

To ensure the improvement of the efficiency of EMS provision and the improvement of the quality of EMS provision, including in cooperation with other institutions in the health sector.

To improve the provision of co-operation with other emergency services (State Fire and Rescue Service, State Police, State Border Guard), including mutual data exchange.

The main activities planned in the project:

  • Development of emergency mobility solutions by providing software and equipment.
  • Integration with the Single Contact Centre platform solutions to support the work of emergency services, ensuring the improvement of operational mode data exchange.
  • To improve the processes of provisions of EMS using machine learning technologies.
  • To improve cooperation with medical institutions.
  • To improve integration with external information systems by ensuring data exchange.
  • To provide an ICT solution for the improvement of the training process for the EMS medical personnel.
  • Improvement of the functional areas of the unified emergency medical care and disaster management information system in order to ensure improvements in the provision and quality of the EMS service.

Project cooperation partners: Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior and the National Health Service.

Project duration - 36 months.

The total project funding is EUR 4,770,000, of which EUR 4,054,500 is ERDF funding.
