USE AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATIONAL VISA INFORMATION SYSTEM (NVIS) (ROUND 2)
Project goal: To improve the quality of the information technology used in the visa processing process and to provide the system users with an appropriate working environment and the necessary training and consultations on topical issues of the EU visa application processing procedure.
Project implementation period: 10.10.2019 – 31.12.2021.
The project is implemented by: Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Latvia.
Cooperation partner: Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior.
Project budget:
The total budget is EUR 341,778;
(Fund co-financing - EUR 290,939, state budget co-financing - 50,839).
Measures planned in the project:
- Implementation of software improvements to the National Visa Information System, which will ensure data exchange with the Entry and Exit Information System (EEIS), as well as the improvement of the functionality of the information system, which will ensure analysis and evaluation of the activities of the users of the information system to reduce corruption risks in the visa issuance process;
- Employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, OCMA and SBG trained on working with NVIS;
- Courses for OCMA and IC employees on IS administration and / or development issues.
Results to be achieved in the project:
- Interoperability between NVIS and IIS is ensured;
- Reduced corruption risks in the visa issuance process;
- Qualified and knowledgeable NVIS personnel.
Results achieved in the project as at 31.12.2020:
- Interoperability between NVIS and IIS is ensured;
- 128 employees of the SBG, OCMA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who are involved in the visa process, have been trained.
